(via Whole Grains, Less Dairy: Harvard’s Healthy Plate | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn)
Harvard Medical School released their take on the USDA’s MyPlate, reducing the emphasis on milk/dairy, adding in water and healthy oil, making the distinction of healthy protein, and removing potatoes from the vegetables section.
New York University nutrition professor Marion Nestle, author of “Food Politics”, made some good points over at the Boston Globe, criticizing it for not including more servings of healthful sources of dairy like fat-free milk or low-fat yogurt, eliminating eggs, and lumping sweet potatoes in with regular potatoes.
While I do agree with most of what Nestle said, Harvard’s plate is still a step in the right direction.

By the time I feed my family, I have maybe $400,000 left over.” — Rep. John Fleming (R-LA), in an interview on MSNBC, on why as a small business owner he can’t afford a tax increase.

Extra Bonus Quote of the Day

Plus he claims his $6.4 million dollar-a-year small business has 500 employees. Yeah, right.

Obama starting a class war? Republicans need no help with that.
